Its OK to say "I feel left out". As you say its not a better life its a different life and that's OK to say out loud too. As a woman who has had no children with all my friends having children its hard to adjust as each of our lives change. Staying in had to be the new going out. Takeaway was the new fine dining restaurant and watching X factor with the girls was the new gig. However I get it. I saw my friends in those baby stained tops.. no make up and lack of the designer hand bag they once carried.
Here is the thing though. Child care gets in the way everyone knows it and there will be many texts of "I can't make it". Of course it was a woman's' choice to have children and all the chaos that comes with it. However it was our choice to be your friend even with the chaos. We have to think of ingenious ways of navigating through it.. There will be many "I can't make" it but we need to keep asking you to play out. At some point the answer will be yes. Of course it might just be an hour in flat shoes and no mascara but the really important thing is not to be the mummy in that hour. You may think of your old self and life as lost but it isn't , its just having a sabbatical. Your mojo might be a bit wonky but its in there.
Motherhood is amazing but then so is the woman who became the mummy. Mehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11291296780769375118noreply@blogger.com
